Arrival at Camp Walt Whitman is a true celebration. Staff welcome everyone off the buses with cheers and campers are brought to their group and introduced to their counselors and bunkmates. Staff can’t wait to meet all of our first time campers and welcome them into our camp family. Going away to sleep away camp for the first time is exciting. There is so much for kids to anticipate as they venture out toward developing new skills, and lifetime friendships. New campers, unsure of the facilities, activities, songs, and many traditions of CWW are sent yellow t-shirts in the mail before arriving so all can welcome and guide them while being a support system of confidence and positivity. Staff and returning campers can also spread excitement about various activities, such as Hike Day, Bunk Night, SIGS (Special Interest Groups), and Big Brother Big Sisters.
