From the moment you walk into the office, there’s a sense that every member of staff is prepared to go above and beyond in order to enrich the lives of our campers.
Whether they are answering phone calls from camp families, sorting mail, or simply reaching out to staff and campers in need, they work tirelessly to ensure every detail is attended to. However large or small the task, the office staff are always there to help.
Matt “Jacko” Jackowitz, our Office Manager, believes being of service not only helps those we assist directly but is also has a significant and positive impact on the lives of our campers. Being a force for good doesn’t mean we have to be happy all the time, it’s more about making a commitment to ourselves and to those around us that we’re going to be part of the solution.
Our fantastic office staff include (shown left to right): Maddie, Bonnie, Laura, Roni, Anna and Abi.
This is Maddies's first year here at CWW, she chose us specifically because of the technology-free environment in which campers leave their electronic devices behind in favor of nature and friendship. Besides working in the office, she is a counselor in cabin 14B. A recent Mathematics graduate of Youngstown State University in Ohio, she keen to pursue her Master's.
Always seen with a smile on her face, Bonnie is the Mother of five beautiful kids, three of which are campers. Traveling with her kids and husband Marty, (who works as the Assistant Waterfront Director), from Utah, they stopped at many historic sites during their journey to camp.
Along with her sister Anna (shown second to the left), Laura traveled from Southern Maine to experience the beauty of New Hampshire. In the autumn, Laura will return to Brigham Young University- Idaho, to continue her studies in Public Health.
"I didn't wish to be sitting in an office all day, so I chose to do my accounting internship here," said Roni. "I also wanted to try something new and exciting, and Camp Walt Whitman has fit the bill." At all hours of the day, you will see Roni working on every aspect of accounting, payroll, and bookkeeping.
Anna enjoys working alongside the friendly office staff in a location that's different from her home in Southern Maine. She is studying Elementary Education at Brigham Young University- Idaho and would like to be a classroom teacher one day.
Abi, in her second summer in our camp office, is a native of Louisiana, studying Architecture and Design. She enjoys working in the office because it's great fun and a beautiful outdoor environment in which to work with children.
Bonnie answers calls from parents, shares information, and answers any questions you may have.
